Some Star Wars Trivia for May the Fourth.

Star wars Trivia logo

Tomorrow is May the Fourth, Star Wars Day. I have been hitting the books brushing up my Star Wars trivia, for the Let the Wookie Win, Trivia Completion. So let me share with you some interesting facts that I have uncovered during my research.

Wampa vs Wookie The original script for The Empire Strikes Back featured a hand to hand battle between Chewbacca and the wampa, the white snow monster that captured Luke. Its removal deprived the universe of one of the most incredible pieces of distilled movie awesomeness ever. Another cut scene has Han and Leia running through the base, and Han wants to take a short cut, by going through a door with a warning sign, Leia explains that it is full of wampas C3P0 removes the sign and a group of Stormtroopers rush in and get eaten. Thus removing C3Po’s one chance to be a hard case.

another charterer I wished had more screen time.

Cliff from Cheers is in The Empire Strikes Back. John Ratzenberger who played postman Cliff Clavin and the pig in Toy Stories plays Force Major Dirlin in the scene where the Imperials overrun Echo base.

After this thing with the empire blows over how about we head over to cheers for a couple of brew-skies?

Elephants in Star Wars: The Bantha’s in Star Wars that are being ridden by Tusken Warriors are in fact baby Asian Elephants with fur and  fake horns.

It had to be hot for that little elephant.

The Mystery of the Fake Wedge. Wedge Antilles, the other surviving X-Wing pilot on the attack of the Death Star is credited as Dennis Lawson, but in the briefing room scene he is actually played by British Actor Collin Higgins. Higgins not use to working on American Movie sets, was unable to master the nuanced differences between acting for a TV show and a movie and quit in disgust. Lawson played him in the Death Star battle and in all the other films. Their voices where dubbed over by American actor David Ankhum, so it would be one voice. Dennis Lawson is also Ewan McGregor’s Uncle, McGregor played Obie-Wan in the prequels.

How do you do, I am the real Wedge.

Steven Spielberg made up to forty million dollars of Star Wars. George Lucas thought he had a flop on his hand, with Star Wars. So when he was visiting his friend Steven Spielberg, who at the time was filming Close Encounters of the Third Kind, he bet him that Spielberg’s movie would make more money. Whoever’s movie was more successful would pay the other 2.5% of their profits. Of course Star Wars dwarfed Encounters, and according to all sources Lucas gladly paid off the losing bet to a tune reportedly  up to forty million dollars.

These two guys will never amount to nothing.

Boba Fett started out as a cartoon character. Though he was cut in to the re-released of Star Wars Special Edition, Boba Fett’s first appearance was on the Star Wars Holiday Special, in an animated segment.
