Every day I try to learn a new thing and write it down and post it at the end of the month. Sometimes you can see what I am studying that month by what I post You will notice there are a lot of facts about movies this month.

 

 

1st Bruce Lee started learning martial arts because he was bullied for being a quarter Caucasian.

2nd the couple Hollis Mason’s Night Owl I rescues in front of the opera house in the opening credits of The Watchmen are Martha and Thomas Wayne, Bat Man’s parents.

3RD Virginia “Ira” Furstenburg who was in a series of B spy movies such as The Vatican Affair, Matchless, Dead Run and Five Dolls for an August Moon, was member of a German princely family.

If she did a Disney movie would she be a Disney Princess.

4th The crescendo of the 1812 Overture is taken note for note from the old Russian National anthem God save the Czar.

5th Richard Nixon was an accomplished pianist.

6th Mythbuster Adam Savitch’s father was an animator for Sesame Street and as a ten year old child he voiced some of those cartoons.

7th Sherylyn Fenn wanted her boyfriend Johnny Depp to have a part in her movie The Wraith, but the studio didn’t want to cast an unknown.

8th The Movie All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was shot in a Texas farm house that was supposedly haunted. The crew claims they could hear children laughing at night when there were no children on the set.

9th A new type of dinosaur is discovered on the average of every ten days.

10th 1 in 12 male humans have a form of color blindness in females it is 1 in 200.

11th New Line Cinema started out buying the rights to foreign and classic movies and showing them on college campuses

12th Minor Planet 2111 Tselina was named after the 1950’s  USSR Virgin Lands program where the Soviet Union encouraged people to volunteer and grown grain in Kazakhstan.  .

13th The rule that girls could not play little league softball was called the “Tubby Rule” after Kathryn Johnson who played softball disguised as a boy named Tubby. 

14th DC’s Suicide Squad first appeared in Issue 25 of The Brave and the Bold in 1959.

15th The movie Soldier was supposed to be set in the same world as The Blade Runner movies.

16th A bunch of Ferrets are called a business.

18th Chris Pratt stole his Guardian’s of the galaxy costume after filming so he could visit sick children in hospitals dressed as Star Lord.

19th Psycho is the first movie shown in the US where a toilet can be seen flushing.

20th 80% of the German soldiers who died during World War Two died on the Eastern Front.

21st Leonardo De Vinchi was a vegetarian.  

22nd   The Exorcists was the first horror movie nominated for an academy award.

23rd Weird Al Yankovich turned down opening for Michael Jackson’s world tour to shoot the movie VHF.

25th There is an opera house ion the US Canadian border where the stage is in one country and the audience is in another.

26th Sugar cane farmers burn their plants making because it is easier to harvest their crops that way.

29th Gal Gadot was five months pregnant when she did the re-shots for Wonder Woman.

30th Lighting Strikes the Earth 100 times per second. 

31st It is illegal to hunt camels in Arizona.

    Hi Dave, wow July is interesting (and slightly uncomfortable if you need the lavatory if you’re a wombat!)
    I think the burning of crops also helps to fertilize the fields for the next cycle/year’s crop as the nutrients and phosphates in the burnt material is more easily absorbed back into the soil.

        Hi Dave, yes I live in an agricultural area of the UK and the local farmers used to burn all the stalks left behind after harvesting. Used to result in clouds of ash and smoke all over the place. I imagine it’s a similar process that you read about.
